The number 1 love of my life, hands down is and always will be, my husband. He loves me unconditionally, he respects me and takes care of me. What more could I ask for? Yes, I'm a very lucky woman. With that in mind, I have decided to reflect upon other aspects of my life which bring me joy. Of course my family has made me who I am today I feel that I wanted to high-light the not-so-obvious components of my life that I love to indulge in. Here goes.
KICKING BACK WITH A MOVIE. This is my all-time favorite past-time. If going to the movie theatre were cheaper, I would go weekly. Unfortunately, I can only afford that luxury every couple of months; most likely using a giftcard. (a ticket here in Ontario Canada costs about $12 per ticket, $15 if it is 3-D + concession costs - total approx. $25- $35). On the days that money may be tight, kicking back with a DVD is still awesome. Popcorn on my left side and hubby on the right. My heaven. Especially since I bought my husband a 40 inch flat screen for Christmas. Add that to our surround sound makes watching one of my favorite movies, Tron 2, a freakin' amazing time. Popcorn is a MUST.
BUBBLE BATHS. Any woman knows that relaxing in a bath tub filled with epsom salts and bubbles is a great start to a relaxing 30 mins. Picture this, tub filled with hot water, blue salts, and bubbles. Add some romantic candles, a wine glass filled with faux red wine (bubbly grape juice- I don't drink), Nat King Cole or Enya playing in the background and a magazine. Mmmm. I love taking baths, and especially ones that follow a very stressful day of work. Its cliche to say, my worries DO melt away. I honeslty feel that my problems are sucked down the drain with the suds. The added bonus is that my skin is positively smooth!
STARBUCKS. I love coffee and hot chocolate topped with whip cream. I love the atmosphere that this chain of coffee shops offer. Many people say that they are over priced and while I agree that paying $5 for a coffee may seem absurd, you pay for what you get. The barristas put so much effort into making each drink unique. I have yet to enter a Starbucks shop that didn't greet me with a smile. I open the door and the smell of coffee calms me. I order a caramel machiato, hotchocolate or even a regular coffee. Accompanied by one of their cake pops (YUM!) and I find a relaxing chair. I love these moments especially if I get to enjoy the company of my husband or my parents. A great place for great conversation. (Did you hear that Starbucks? I love you. You can thank me later ;)
BOOKS. I love them. They are an art form that is slowing dissapearing thanks to the creation of the electronic reader. I can never imagine myself reading a classic on an e-reader. The reason for that is because I love the smell, the feel and the sound a book. For you book lovers out there reading this, you know exactly what I am taking about. I could spend hours in an old used bookstore; half the time feeling the covers, smelling them and the other browsing the titles. I love the fact that they have a history. People of all walks of life have read these and here they are, waiting for me to take them home! Some have been abused and some have been taken care of. If only original prints of classic novels didn't cost an arm and a leg! Also, I wish I had a room with wall to wall shelving for me to display my collection. One day, when my husband and I buy a house I will have my own personalized library with a reading nook. For now, I will enjoy bookstores, and yes, even stores like Chapters that most often have a Starbucks next door!
For now, that is the short list of Loves of my Life. As I age and my life changes, I'm sure the list will get bigger. For now as a young professional, newly married woman, this is my list. What is YOURS?
*Allie*
