I'm pregnant!!! (*Insert happy dance here*) My husband and I are expecting our first child in early November. As of tomorrow, I will be starting my 14th week. Excited doesn't even begin to describe how we feel right now. We are ecstatic!
Now that my pregnancy is official - meaning we have told our families, friends and now
Our To-Do list, aka. the baby "bucket list":
- Buy a new car. We currently drive a
toy car2007 Chevy Aveo. While this little gal (we call her 'Black Betty' like the song) gets us to where we need to go, it is definitely not big enough to fit us, our stuff, groceries AND a baby plus all of the items that come with a baby. We need a bigger rear space for big items such as a stroller. We are thinking perhaps something a bit smaller than an SUV. Suggestions? - Buy a house We currently live in a small 2 bedroom apartment. Sounds dupable no? No. Our building is a 3-storey walk-up. Yes, no elevator, no AC either. See where I am going with this? Not to mention that we barely fit into the apartment and there isn't much room for a baby and all their accessories. Our lease is up July 1st. We hope to start the search next week, or at the latest end of this month. That would give us 3 months (approx.) to get settled in, do any urgent house projects and prepare the nursery. Totally doable.....I hope.
- Go on a "Baby-moon" We hope to take a mini-faction to relax and unwind before baby arrives. Because I work full-time and my husband juggles 2 jobs (1 full & 1 part time....can you say hard worker? Hell yeah)- this "baby moon" would probably only be for a weekend. Maybe take a road trip to Prince Edward Island and rent a cottage. The world is our oyster....and there it would be, lol....any Canadians out there getting that horrible pun? Those of you who are scratching your head like 'what the heck is she talking about, lemme 'esplain.... (PEI is well known for its oysters....and mussels...yum!) I think its safe for pregnant women to eat them too. OHHH sooo yummy. Oh, here comes another craving....lets just add that too the list.... but I am getting off track....
- Exercise Yeah, I'm not too happy about that one. Its a necessary evil for anyone who dislikes working up a sweat. I've got a couple of Wii discs screaming at me to use them - thanks Wii Fit! My husband has been encouraging me to go for walks to my favourite park (Shubie Park of course). Oh and does walking up & down 3 flights of stairs count for anything?? Anyone who says 'hell yes' I will name my baby after you (NOT REALLY THOUGH).
- Read up on baby-lingo We've got a few books, mostly from the library that we are reading about pregnancy and labour and babies in general. In another post I will have to talk about which ones got me super-excited about this whole giving birth experience and which ones had me crying as I rocked myself in the fetal position in the corner. Seriously, some of the stuff has already given me nightmares. Yowza! Also, trying to choose the right stroller & car seat has me in a cold sweat. Which one to choose?
For now those are the BIG projects on the go. It is going to be a crazy 6 months ahead, but I suspect not as crazy as the next 18 years.....dun, dun, dun.....I joke....its going to be great!
