Enjoy the weather I say

As a Canadian I tend to complain about the cold winter weather we get from October to April. In all fairness though, that is about 7 months of freezing cold, depressing weather. From April to June it is rainy with some sunny days here and there. Then from June through September it is beautiful and warm. Today is May 31st, so enjoy the weather I say!

As I type this I am on my front deck. I'm sitting on my bistro chairs listening to the birds sing (and interrupt my train of thought as I attempt to write this). The deck is shaded which right now is perfect because it must be about 30 degrees in the sun. The air is fresh and there is a slight breeze. The only thing missing is a pool to put my feet in. I look across the way at the field beyond the lawn. So calm. So perfect. Birds aside, the only sound I hear is the AC.

My job has taught me to really appreciate the time I get to spend outside. I work in a building with no windows, no fresh air. I may sound like someone new to this planet when I describe my surroundings. I describe them with a new appreciation. I take deep breaths and close my eyes, like someone recently let out of a 20 year prison term. I take any moment I can to soak up outdoors. From 1pm to 10pm I don't get to see any traces of outside. I breathe now and take in this warm hug mother nature is giving me as I type this.

enjoy the weather I say!
