I love mason jars! Many of you out there reading this probably do too. They are eco-friendly, pretty and multi-use! They are a blank canvas waiting to be decorated and played with. They serve as a storage device, but why not make them even prettier? I have mason jars all over my home. I keep some in the bathroom to organize and store tweezers, makeup brushes, ointments etc. I also use one in the fridge to hold little packets of soy sauce. Lastly, they work great as a vase. Thanks to Pinterest, I discovered you can do so much more! Paint them of course! So I did.
Step 1. Clean and dry your mason jar. Remove lid.
Step 2. Find the paint colour of your choice. I chose this colour because it is cheery and just plain awesome. Also, we had it left over from painting accent walls in our new apartment. (more on that later). The interior latex paint worked for me.
Step 3. Begin by pouring the paint in small amounts into the mason jar. Turn the jar around to cover the inside. I did this for about 10 mins. making sure the entire inside was covered. I never used a paint brush as I didn't want brush marks.
Step 4. Let jar sit for an hour. Return to do another layer if necessary.
Step 5. Done! Yep, it was that easy. I waited 3-4 days before using it to allow it to dry properly. I made 2. One for my pens and pencils to sit in at my desk and the other holds flowers (fake ones, wouldnt want to put water in these).
Ta-Dah!
They make such pretty accessories around my home! And because I didn't paint the outside, the jar still has that glassy finish. *love*
